We have just received news that there has been a plane crash in Lagos involving Dana Air. We are still waiting on confirmation from Dana airlines or the Nigerian Aviation authorities concerning the incident. The air craft is said to have been coming from Abuja, carrying 162 passengers and crashed in Lagos. The crash is also said to have occurred at a residential area.
This news according to BBC:
A passenger plane has crashed into a building in Nigeria’s main city of Lagos, officials say. Witnesses told Reuters news agency they saw the Dana Air plane strike the building and burst into flames. Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority head Harold Denuren told local media he did not believe any of the approximately 150 people on board had survived. The crash took place in a neighbourhood just outside the airport, AP quoted federal emergency management as saying. It said emergency personnel were on their way to the scene.
There were conflicting reports as to whether the Dana Air flight was arriving in Lagos from the Nigerian capital, Abuja, or was just leaving Lagos bound for Abuja. Reports said the weather at the time of the crash was clear and sunny. Nigeria, like many African countries, has a poor air safety record, though some efforts have been made to improve it since a spate of airline disasters in 2005.
