There was not a great deal to be done in our Country of Nigeria, besides chasing shadows and playing music in Church halls, at least not for us. Music was always important to us. Jon Shima was made to sit at a piano as soon as he was able; Jon Shima loved to perform at any given moment. My influences vary but are rooted in performing various kind of songs and being able to describe without words. I think you can tell a lot about me from the music that we listen to. Bored of living in the shadow of our culturally parched platform Metamusic opted to find the much promised greener grass and graze pastures new. Lagos the epicentre of African music became my home in October 2011.
In 2006 Jon Shima compiled his first E.P. ‘Safe Passages to Adulthood’ which represented a pivotal time for my ensemble, not only musically but also on a personal level. It was to become the pinnacle work of his original line-up as in the same year Jon Shima decided to go back to school “federal college of education” Kano State.
In 2012 Jon Shima began to record new material at SoSoBeat Studio, Lagos, Nigeria. After spending a few months redefining the rhythm section with Ace producers, SosoBeat & Puffy Tee were able to complete tracks. The tracks which will soon hit the clubs soon featured old time lyricist and producer Don Drim
Fate did conspire to put a spanner in our spokes however, when Jon Shima ‘Jamborie’ His new single was Aired out ,Fortunately, he finished the record by this time and by some fluke of auspicious Mancunian magic Jon Shima got a management deal with Educated Thugs Entertainment in early May, 2012.
The aforementioned record is now titled “JAMBORIE” and is released on May 30th 2012 on Educated Thugs Ent. Please support me, download it & share with friends and family. It contains my heart and souls.
