According to reports, JLo tearfully told Ryan Seacrest yesterday that she had decided not to return to American Idol in order to concentrate on her music career and two young children. But a report in a Hollywood trade paper is now claiming Jennifer Lopez was actually ‘dumped by [U.S. network] Fox after asking for a $2 million raise in salary’, which would have taken the 42-year-old’s pay to a whopping $17 million.

Sources told The Wrap that Fox also opted not to pick up fellow judge Steven Tyler’s option to appear on the next season of the show. The Aerosmith singer announced his decision to quit on Thursday, claiming he had ‘strayed too far’ from his band. He told TMZ: ‘After some long hard thoughts, I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit.’ After admitting he ‘loved every minute’ of his time on American Idol, Tyler said he is now committed to ‘bringing rock back’ with Aerosmith.
Meanwhile, Lopez’s salary is said to have risen from $12 million in her first season as a judge to $15 million in her second. Mariah Carey is thought to be a front runner , while Kanye West Mary J. Blige, Lenny Kravitz, Katy Perry and former Idol runner-up Adam Lambert are also said to be in the running.
