Producer Blessing Effiom-Egbe takes Silverbird Cinemas to court

Blessing Effiom-Egbe, producer of ‘Two Brides and a Baby’ has taken the management of  SilverBird Cinemas to court over what she percieves as sharp practises by the Group.

The movie, which was directed by Teco Benson, is reported to have cost over N12 million. Blessing claims she is yet to recieve a single kobo from her investment even though the movie was screened to packed halls in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt for over two months! She was also told that the film had stopped screening in all cinemas as at the 13th of January. However, tickets show that the film was still being screened in February.

She has contacted her lawyer and is suing Silverbird to the tune of N500 million. Also listed in the suit is Mary Ephraim of OKHMA Global Limited, the distributor that co-ordinated the deal.

‘Two Brides and a Baby’ picked up 5 awards at the Best of Nollywood awards, including Movie of the Year and stars Stella Damasus, Kalu Ikeagwu, OC Ukeje, Keira Hewatch, Blessing Effiom Egbe, Okey Uzoeshi, Chelsea Eze, and Kehinde Bankole.
