On Saturday an audio recording believed to be a conversation between the Los Angeles Clippers basketball owner Donald Sterling and  his girlfriend, V. Stiviano was released onto the Internet and began a whirlwind of controversy in the sport’s world and beyond.

The recording, which was published on TMZ, features a voice alleged to be Sterling, arguing with girlfriend over a photo, which she posed with NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and posted onto Instagram. During the taped phone call, Sterling tells his girlfriend that he is upset because she wants to “broadcast” that she is “associating with black people” and later instructs her not to “bring any of them” to Clippers basketball games…

“It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?”

“You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that … and not to bring them to my games.”

“I’m just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people.”

“…Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games.”

The NBA and Clippers organization are still trying to determine the authenticity of the shocking audio, but the comments have already drawn outrage from people everywhere

Obama had this to say
“When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything.  You just let them talk.  That’s what happened here.”….“the United States continues to wrestle with the legacy of race and slavery and segregation,” adding, “that’s still there, the vestiges of discrimination. We’ve made enormous strides, but you’re going to continue to see this percolate up every so often.”

micheal jordan
Former NBA player and Bobcats Chairman, Micheal Jordan, released a statement on sunday stating
“I look at this from two perspectives – as a current owner and a former player. As an owner, I’m obviously disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views. I’m confident that Adam Silver will make a full investigation and take appropriate action quickly.”

“As a former player, I’m completely outraged. There is no room in the NBA – or anywhere else – for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed,” Michael Jordan continued. “I am appalled that this type of ignorance still exists within our country and at the highest levels of our sport. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level.”

Actor, Kevin Hart, had this to say….“Donald T Sterling is a flat out Racist….he will never see another dollar from me!!! This is This is disgusting….he has a slave master mentality!!!! This is disturbing and unbelievably sad!!! I feel for my close friends that play for this Racist because of the position that this puts him in!!! #Racist #ScumBag #Racist #ScumBag #Racist #ScumBag

Rapper, Lil’ Wayne, and many others suggest, that the players on the L.A. Clippers quit. His statement was captured on video, where he unapologetically states.. “F– you. That simple, that easy…If I were a Clippers fan, I wouldn’t be one any more, it’s that simple. But if I was a current Clippers player you wouldn’t see me on the court any more in that uniform.”

The L.A Clippers played the playoffs on  Sunday, April 27th against Golden State Warriors, where the Golden State Warriors to no ones surprise crushed the distracted Clippers, 118-97. But this hasn’t done much to curb the outrage. As for the players themselves, they silently protested by tossing their warm-up jackets bearing the Clipper logo mid-court and held their practice with their warm-up shirts inside out.
