Malaysia Airlines Plane, Shot Down In Ukraine Killing 295 On Board

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 with 295 people aboard crashed in eastern Ukraine near the Russian border. It was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. There were 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board. Malaysia Airlines confirmed via twitter that it lost contact with Flight 17 and that the plane’s last known position was over Ukrainian airspace.

Ukrainian Interior Minister said all on board are dead and that the plane was shot down by Russian anti-aircraft missiles at 33,000 feet and at 500mph. A routers reporter confirmed seeing over 100 dismembered bodies strewn all over the scene.

The plane came down near the city of Donetsk, which is a border between Russia and Ukraine where a Ukrainian transport plane was shot down at 21,000 feet on Monday July 13th and a military jet shot down last week from the Russian side of the border.
President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said,

“We do not exclude that the plane was shot down and confirm that the Ukraine Armed Forces did not fire at any targets in the sky.”
