South African Olympic sprinter, Oscar Pistorius, 27, has been found not guilty of pre-meditated murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, who was killed on valentine’s day last year. Judge Thokozile Masipa has read much of her judgement and she’s just found Oscar Pistorius not guilty of pre-meditated murder. The judge explained that Oscar’s reaction after killing Reeva shows he didn’t have criminal intent, hadn’t foreseen he’d killed her. However, she also suggested that Mr Pistorius knew his actions might result in death, which would leave him open to the charge of culpable homicide.
She also cast doubts on some of the witnesses and she also said the accused is also a poor witness.
The court will reconvene after lunch break.
