Singer Whitney Houston, died from accidental drowning caused partly by the effects of heart disease and cocaine abuse, a coroner ruled yesterday.
The 48 year old, who was found dead in a hotel bath, had mixed cocaine with marijuana and prescription medication on the night she died on February 11. She had been a chronic user of cocaine, the results of a toxicology report found.
Marijuana along with prescription drugs including the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, painkiller Flexeril and anti-histamine Benadryl were also found in her system but did not contribute to her death. Her official cause of death was “drowning, effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use”.
