Nigerian Football Coach, Stephen Keshi Has Been Sacked

The Nigerian Football Federation has announced that Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has been sacked. Keshi has been replaced by a former coach of the team, Amodu Shaibu who will be supported by Salisu Yusuf, Gbenga Ogunbote and Aloysius Agu. Keshi was sacked alongside his assistant coaches, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmu.

Keshi’s job had come under scrutiny since the start of the qualifiers in September following the 3-2 defeat to Congo at home. He has also become embroiled in fights with players. He accused striker Ikechukwu Uche of wanting to be begged to play for the country. However, the player denied the allegations.

The team also has a new co-ordinator in the person of Garba Lawal.
