Nse Ikpe Etim, is a leading Nigerian actress who came into public conciousness when she played the role of Omoze in the movie ‘Reloaded’ back in 2008. Her first role as an actress was a stage perfomance at the age of 18 while in the University. Her first appearance on television was in the family soap ‘Inheritance‘.
Nse comes from a family of eight and she is the first of six children. She was born on 21 October, 1974 in her home-state, Akwa Ibom. Due to her father’s frequent transfers as a staff of Central bank of Nigeria, Nse changed schools a lot. She had her primary education at Awa Nursery School Kaduna and Command Children’s School, Jos and her secondary education at St Louis College, Jos and Federal Government College, Jos and Ilorin.
From there she proceeded to the University of Calabar to earn her Bachelor Of Arts degree in Theatre Arts. While in secondary school, Nse was a very popular student as she was actively involved in sports and social activities. She was known to be a very eloquent student. After her University education, Nse took a break from acting to concentrate on other things. She briefly worked in the fashion, banking & business sector. She also worked as an on air personality at Rhythm and Cool FM, before making it back to her first love which has always been acting.
Nse’s role models are Stuffy Loral (an American actress) and Nigerian Joke Silva. Nse said of them:
“I grew up at a time when there was nothing like Nollywood. For me, Stuffy Loral and Joke Silva are my sources of inspiration.”
In January 2013, Nse’s engagement to her childhood friend, Clifford Sule was announced. Her husband is a senior lecturer at the Middlesex University, UK.
The couple later got married on the 14th of February at a registry in Lagos, Nigeria. A traditonal wedding followed shortly in her hometown in Akwa Ibom State.
She is a fan of Manchester United FC and she loves to cook, play scrabble, write and read. Nse is a very good cook and she has revealed that she hopes to establish a big restaurant sometime later. She said;
“When I stay off the screen, I hope to establish a big restaurant in the city of Abuja. I intend to retire to my kitchen.”
Nse has won numerous awards in her career and she is one of the few Nigerian actresses who have managed to stay scandal-free. She currently lives with her husband in London, but frequents Nigeria for movie engagements.
