About the contestant
Bio: Joe Anthony Ekpo (also known as Joe Blue) was most notable for his peculiar sense of style in season 1, now he’s back to take it past that. The judges were so impressed with him that they asked him to do 2 other songs after his rendition of Lionel Richie’s ‘Hello’ and that got him a golden ticket. Joe Blue says he’s doing this for his dad—his biggest fan—who passed away a fortnight after his eviction in season 1. He believes he embodies the entire package of a Nigerian Idol which he says is evident in his style, vocal strength and personality. He aims to become a Blues artiste.
Bio: Mecinda is a prospective student of linguistics at the University of Port Harcourt. This lover of music and indigene of Ikwere in Rivers state says she’s on Nigerian Idol to make a difference and to encourage the talented youths in Nigeria to never give up on their dreams. Some of her musical influences include, Asa, Omawunmi, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys. She likes sincerity and dislikes the opposite. Mecinda says she’s in it to win it.
