Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, has trumped up more support for the widows in hometown in Benin City, Edo state where she recently attended a summit of African widows.
The actress was at the event in her capacity as an ambassador for a foundation which is bringing awareness to the plight of maltreated widows. This comes after her estranged husband, Lanre Gentry, complained bitterly about her involvement with a foundation for widows when he was still very much alive and well.
Lanre had said in part, “…Makes me wonder why someone will take up being a widow ambassador when her husband isn’t dead.” But Mercy Aigbe doesn’t seem to give the slightest hoot about her husband’s concerns as she expressed delight with her role with the widows. She wrote on the gram, “Glad to lend my voice to this cause….bringing awareness to the plight of so many widows in our community…. Show love , support, care and empathize with them.”
